I [Joel Jones] have noticed that some are teaching there is no "catching away [into heaven]" at all.
Although I am putting forth teachings which teach about a selective catching away, I want to help bolster the faith that there shall indeed be a catching away... or "rapture".
Here are some verses for our mutual study:
John 20:17 "I [Jesus] have not yet ascended..."
ANABEBKA = Strong's # G305 = "ascended"
Acts 2:33 "[Jesus] being to the right hand exalted"
HUPSOTHEIS = G5312 = "exalted"
John 17:24 "That where I am they also may be"
HOPOU EIMI = G3699 + G1510 = "where I am"
John 17:4-5 " I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. "
My comments: Jesus ASCENDED TO THE FATHER'S RIGHT HAND. In my view, the Father's right hand is obsviously in heaven as opposed to being somewhere on this planet.
Jesus prayed that His disciples come also TO BE WHERE HE IS. That is John 17:24, "That where I am they may be also."
And, to further support that this would be in HEAVEN NOT ON EARTH, I present John 17:4-5 to show that He spoke of having finished the work on earth and was going to share in the glory with the Father.
In other verses, not listed above, Jesus told His disciples He was going to the Father. The Father, indisputably, was IN HEAVEN. We know for certain that Jesus was making His exodus into HEAVEN - as opposed to some refuge on earth. And He declared Himself to be THE WAY to the Father.
Philip said, "We do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?" Does it not seem obvious to us that those who think that no disciples will be bodily lifted into the skies are being in the same ignorance as Philip who did not know where Jesus was going?
